Pull the Shades Out

grippin on wood grain

Came across these a few days ago. I’ve never really thought twice about the whole wood-grain aesthetic, but looking at these glasses, and I can’t help but think: Grown-man. Get yours, custom-made at Urban Spectacles.

Haters Everywhere

June 2, 2008

LL came out with a freestyle titled Hi Haters a few days back, but I’m not really feelin’ it to be honest with you. It’s good to see him doing his thing, but the track doesnt do it for me. But anyways, I did get a couple of new tracks along that same tip. The first track is from Maino, who I picked up from HHH awhile back, and I’ve been a fan ever since. Good hookup on this remix with fellow NY native MIMS. The hook’s hit or miss, but overall a pretty good re-up. Next one is by Gillie Da Kid. Nothin beats Get Down On the Ground, but this is a pretty good follow-up. With Weezy’s album looming, it makes me wonder if GDK will do anything major himself ’cause that beef they were having was getting crazy. Lotta talkin’ from both sides had me wishin’ they took it to the booths a bit more. Oh well, enough with the talk, check the new.

Serius Business

June 2, 2008

One highly publicized battle in Mook’s backyard pretty much deaded Serius Jones’ freestyle career, but possibly helped him ink a major deal. Pause. He made some mixtape moves, worked with some big figures, and now he’s got a movie comin? Dude’s doing work, can’t say anything else. Watch the trailer, bit melodramatic, takes cues from Fitty if you ask me..

I wanna see some production creds, maybe a soundtrack listing before I go on believing this is legit. Soon as I know, expect an update.

Vans x Crooks & Castles

June 2, 2008

…and coming out of left field, we have these Vans Caballeros! Huge collaboration, follows nicely with the Supreme x Vans chukkas/half-cabs that came out a few months back. A bit loud for my own taste, but you can’t hate on Crooks for keeping it game tight with the Gucci accents, true to form. I dig the perf leather from the toebox to the heel.. the only subtle point to the whole shoe

C&C Drop

May 31, 2008

New “Ruling Elite Pack” drops today from the Crooks fam. Available only at the flagship Melrose spot, it features four tees, each with gold & purple on white to commemorate the LA Lakers’ playoff run. The core logos we’re all familiar with are used, just with the Lakers’ trim color added. Nice and clean, perfect for summer, perfect to rock when they meet the Celtics later this week in the NBA Finals.

BONUS: A glimpse of the ladies’ joints set to be released later this year. It’s about time Crooks catered to the ladies. They got that swagger too.

That was just a lame excuse to put some sex up in here.. sue me

Update: Just got Tha Carter III in its entirety with Bonus tracks. I will put it up, along with a review, so stay tuned.

Have A Seat

May 31, 2008

This may be a week old, but I just skimmed through the blog over at BBC and saw this interesting piece. Expanding his creative palette, P designed the chair in collab with Domeau & Pérès, a couture/high end furniture company, that will build the chair with its accompanying pieces. Aptly named the Perspective, it really puts a new twist on form and functionality, where art becomes a part of your daily culture.

Pharrell loungin’ on the Perespective. Apparently its supposed to symbolize the love between a man and a woman. Gotta love art.

Meet Tha Carters

May 31, 2008

Who hasn’t heard of Tha Carter III yet?? Late last week the tracklist was leaked and we all got a glimpse of the type of production that went into the most anticipated album of the year. I just recently got a copy of some of the full versions, no record label tags, just the straight goods. The first track with Hov is nothing short of a classic, real nice beat to it. The second features production from Mr. West, hittin’ with the looped samples. That last one kills it conceptually. Basically Weezy’s the doc, who’s been giving life back into music & the industry. Sounds about right..
